Unattended Installation for Upgrading Windows

At MS Windows Server 2003

Create a fresh Partition in the Windows Server 2003 VPC.
Insert the Windows XP Professional Product CD in the CD ROM.
Browse the CD to: CD:\SUPPORT\TOOLS and copy deploy.cab. Paste it the fresh partition.
Double Click the deploy.cab file.
Double Click the Setupmgr.exe file.
Select the appropriate new partition created and extract everything.
Double Click the extracted

Select the appropriate type of setup. i.e. Unattended Installation
Click
Select 2003 enterprise edition/XP professional
Click
Select the appropriate User interaction (Fully Automated)
Click
Select
Click
Select CD Drive i.e.
Give the Distribution Share location. i.e. NEW_PARTITION/windir and Share name: windir or Windows XP
Click
Check
Click
Provide all the General Information.
After the setup manager completes, go to the share drive and make sure that the I386 folder is copied properly. Otherwise, copy the I386 folder from the CD.

At MS Windows Client PC

Right Click , Click on
Browse the server 2003 and select the folder which contains the setup files (By default it is named as windist)
Click
If you fail to access the folder then you may provide the share path too. i.e. \\SERVER_NAME\SHARE_FOLDER_NAME e.g. \\army1\windist
Go to , type cmd which opens the command prompt window.
Go to the mapped drive. Generally, it is Z:\
Type
Z:\>unattand your_computer_name e.g. Z:\>unattend army2
